After-School Programs

Trevose Day School offers a variety of special after-school programs to enrich your child’s total educational experience.

Chess Club

For the student chess enthusiast, weekly chess instruction is available as part of our after-school program and provides an opportunity for community involvement. Chess has been proven to improve memory, concentration and academic performance. Children begin with the basics of chess and learn increasingly challenging scenarios and strategies. Chess instruction is tailored to the student’s individual needs – from the novice to the more advanced player. Chess Club students are able to learn from a renowned expert and participate in scholastic tournaments throughout the year at a local, state and national level.

Foreign Language

This program provides an introduction to the concept of foreign language and culture. The overall emphasis is to teach children to appreciate the differences and similarities of our language and culture compared to others from around the world. Languages include Spanish, French, Japanese and Chinese.

Art

The introduction of artists from around the world will inspire and stimulate a child’s artistic creations. Students will explore several different techniques and a range of mediums. The final product is an art gallery featuring each student’s finest pieces.

Website Design

This program allows students to learn how to design their own Website. Students will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating a Web page using HTML language, the universal language for Website design.

Dance

Creative movement offers children a way to explore movement through music, particularly for our younger students. This program provides children with an opportunity for a non-competitive, creative experience. Older students are introduced to different dance styles, such as jazz and hip-hop.
