Cradles To Crayons Clothing Drive, May 4-15
Gather your goods and your good feelings as you join us in a clothing drive for a wonderful cause!
This amazing nonprofit organization provides children living in homeless or low-income situations with the necessities they need to thrive. Through Cradles to Crayons, vital every day items such as clothing, shoes, school supplies, toys and baby items are distributed to needy families free of charge. Their goal, and ours, is to ensure that all children have what they need to learn and grow.
We are very humbled by the chance to give to other children right here in the Philadelphia area. Our hope is that this partnership helps our young citizens foster a spirit of generosity and compassion for those in need while instilling in them a deep appreciation for how fortunate they are.
“A lot of children need help and their parents don’t always have money for food, clothing, and things that they need,” says Steven Belder, a 2nd grader in Mrs. Buckley’s class. “A lot of people are very poor and they shouldn’t be, so we need to help them.”
Flyers detailing our drive have gone home with the students and are on display in local libraries and restaurants (and at the bottom of this post!). Some students have requested extra flyers to pass out to family, friends and neighbors such as Gabriel Shapiro, also a 2nd grader.
“I want to give them out to help other people,” says Gabriel. “No one I know does this so I feel that I should.”
For our first drive, we are collecting new and gently used spring clothing for children such as shoes, sneakers, spring jackets, seasonal shirts, pants and shorts.
We encourage you to participate! Donation bins are located under our Giving Tree, which is located at the front of the school and accessible weekdays from 8am to 6pm.
The spirit of giving will stay with us year round. In August, we will hold our Back To School drive and collect school supplies such backpacks, notebooks, pencils and pens. In November, as the chill sets in, we will host a winter coat drive to help make sure children spend the holiday season warm and safe.
Thank you for helping us making this effort a success!
