March into Spring at Trevose Day School!
This week our Kindergarten students took advantage of the beautiful weather by taking their learning outside the classroom with Mrs. Berman!
Our students enjoyed the gorgeous weather by turning the great outdoors into their classroom. We worked in our literacy notebooks while enjoying the fresh air. Then we completed a math activity where we made number wheels and practiced counting by 10! Each student had a paper plate with numbers spread out around the edge, in random order, from 10-100. Counting by 10 in order we strung yarn through the paper plates.
After stringing the paper plates, some of our mini mathematicians noted that our math projects looked similar to the dream catchers that we made during the beginning of the year. We decided to turn our number wheels into dream catchers. Students then decorated the center of the plates in color. We held them up and watched them blow in the wind - the students loved turning math into an art project!
Soon after, our students got messy and finger-painted nature scenes. With nature all around them they were able to look around to decide what they wanted to paint. Many students recreated themselves playing outside while some made animals - a few made the trees visible in the distance! It was a great morning spent in the outdoors!
